At Allendale Primary School, student homework is not expected nor required. Some teachers may offer it to their students, however it is not a school expectation. Our students work very hard whilst they are here at school, and it is our belief that after school students should be engaging in other activities or spending time with their families.
If parents would like to do learning with their children at home, they can do the following:
Home Reading
All Allendale students receive a home reading folder at the beginning of the school year.
Students are encouraged to read for 10-15 minutes every day after school to improve their fluency and comprehension. Rewards are as follows:

Phonics Home Practise (PP-Year 2)
In their home learning folders, students in Pre Primary to Year 2 will receive a Home Practise sheet in each. This will have the spellings/sounds that they have learnt in the past few weeks and how to practise these new skills at home. You can watch a video showing how to support your child with these home practise sheets here.
Maths Basic Facts (Numeracy Ninjas)

What we do
Numeracy Ninjas is a support program to promote and encourage students to practise Mental Computation in Maths at home. Numeracy Ninjas runs for Terms 2 and 3.
Year 1-6 students are invited to participate in the program by working through levels, to develop skills and fluency with a focus on Counting, Patterns and Basic Facts.

On passing a level – students receive a sticker and certificate Attendance = 25 PBS points
- Students attend Challenge Days in the library on Wednesday of Weeks, 3, 5, 7 and 9 either before school, recess or at lunch time.
- They are tested on content as per level – one level per Challenge Day
- Level of achievement attained and date is recorded on GradExpert.
- Staffing – education assistants oversee recording and testing of students
Year 6 leaders have assisted and continue to participate in Challenge Days, encouraging younger students and demonstrating leadership in our school.
